Season Flow
Practice
"Practice makes perfect."
Practice for 6th Grade Boys Soccer will take place every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday at the beginning of the season.
Once games begin practices will only occur on Tuesdays and Fridays for the duration of the season.
As with all sports and club activities, there will be no official practice on early release Wednesdays.
Practice begins at 2:30 pm and will conclude by 4:05 pm. Please arrange for transportation home.
It is expected that athletes be at all practices unless prior communication takes place. All athletes who have met the eight-practice requirement will be allowed to compete in matches.
Matches
What is a "Match"?
Just like with practice, members of the soccer team are expected to attend matches unless prior communication takes place.
Match Regulations
- Each match consists of two 30 minute halves, with a 5 minute halftime in between.
- A volunteer referee will manage all matches. Please treat them with respect and understand that they are doing the jobs of four people all by themselves.
Transportation
For matches played at Timbercrest students should remain at school for warmups and last minute strategy changes.
Buses will be provided to transport students to games played at other schools. Please be ready to board the buses by 3:15 pm!
At the conclusion of both home and away matches students will need to arrange for transportation home.
Practice Good Sportsmanship
Though it is a competition, it is important to practice good sportsmanship at all matches.
- Refrain from "trash talk".
- Express appreciation toward your competitors whether you are the host or visitor.
- Don't be a sore loser or a sore winner.
- Winning means nothing if you lose off of the field by being disrespectful or disruptive.

Result: TMS 5 - KMS 4
Our second match was played at the well maintained Forsgren Park near Kenmore Middle School. The opposition took an early lead, but the wolves did not give up. They equalized early in the second half and once again continued to have a lot of success as players learned to take their time and use laser focused passing to break down the Colts' defense. This truly proved to be a game that had to be watched until the very end, and the Wolves claimed a hard earned victory!
10/01/18 - Skyview @ Timbercrest
Result: TMS 13 - SMS 0
The weather started off calm, but soon it was raining cats and dogs and goals as the boys soccer team played a decisive match against Skyview Middle School. Both offense and defense really stepped up and cooperated to deliver another home victory for all our great fans! Go Wolves!
10/04/18 - Timbercrest @ Northshore
Result: TMS 4 - NMS 3
The stage was set for the only remaining undefeated teams to meet in 6th grade boys soccer as the Wolves prepared to take on the Titans of Northshore Middle School. The game got off to an explosive start with Timbercrest taking an early lead thanks to great teamwork and a stellar shot from Dalia. Goals continued to roll in, with Dalia getting another thanks to great assist from Taylor and two from Irving, one of which was served up just right by Henry.
None of these goals would have been possible (or meant as much) without some great plays by the midfield and defense. Moritz did an amazing job of always finding the ball and turning the tables on the opposition whilst Ben made multiple saves in goal. Regardless of position, everyone played their hearts out to defend the Timbercrest lead until the final whistle blew.
This victory is one that every member of the team can and should be proud of!
10/08/18 - Timbercrest @ Leota
Result: TMS 7 - LMS 0
Despite bad weather both teams came out very strong, with each defense rising to the challenge again and again to maintain a thrilling scoreless tie deep into the first half. But this scoreline would not hold up, and Timbercrest ended the half with three goals thanks to great teamwork and tremendous individual efforts from everyone on the pitch!
What was a light rain only got stronger as the second half began, and the Wolves took full control of the game. Regardless of where the ball ended up there was always a man in green waiting to claim it and send it back toward the opponent's territory. Four more amazing Timbercrest goals came in this half, and the team held off the ferocious pride of Lions to earn their second shutout!
10/11/18 - Timbercrest @ Canyon Park
Result: TMS 3 - CPMS 0
The boys team got quite the surprise upon arriving at Canyon Park Middle School, as their beautiful new soccer field was still under construction and the goals were set up on a dirt field that was once a baseball diamond.
Once they took the "pitch" the team found it difficult to play normally, but the boys quickly adapted and learned to use lobbing passes rather than dribbling.
Although the "field" was never easy to play on, the team got better and better as time went on and made some amazing plays. There were times it felt like watching an exciting World Cup match, one in which excellent chances finally gave way to wonderful goals. And happily all three goals of the match belonged to Timbercrest, improving the Wolves record to 6 and 0!
10/15/18 - Timbercrest @ Kenmore
Result: TMS 2 - KMS 0
Upon their return to Forsgren Park, the Wolves met the Colts of Kenmore for a second time. Timbercrest set the pace early with a goal from a set piece despite having to play into the blinding sun. Great offensive plays continued, but this game was largely about the defense.
The Wolves put up an unbreakable wall as a team, with defenders cutting off every attack and forcing turnover after turnover. It was also impressive to see the front line and midfield take an active role in defense, as they dropped back again and again to provide support when needed. The team did a spectacular job playing together, and their efforts kept the Colts off the score sheet and produced the seventh straight Timbercrest victory!
** Special thanks to Kenmore's coach, team, and all parents for their patience at this game. We were a bit late due to some scheduling issues and traffic, but everyone was very accommodating.
10/18/18 - Skyview @ Timbercrest
Result: TMS 6 - SMS 2
The 6th grade boys soccer team faced a vastly improved Skyview on a gorgeous Thursday evening.
In order to help build teamwork and perhaps discover hidden talents almost everyone played a new position in this game and the substitution matrix was more complicated than the latest i7 processor. Although these changes led to a difficult start, the Wolves quickly adapted and learned a great deal as everyone started to mesh. They then took the fight to Skyview and came away with their 8th straight win!
Only two games remain, come out and show your support if you can!
10/22/18 - Timbercrest @ Northshore
Result: TMS 4 - NMS 3
On a Monday afternoon the boys soccer team made their second visit to Northshore Middle School to face one of their most difficult rivals.
The Northshore Titans were hungry for redemption and an epic clash ensued between the teams. The ball moved back and forth along the field at a feverish pitch and neither team appeared to have total control of the game.
By half time the Wolves were trailing a goal, but after some reorganization the equalizer came and was then followed by another goal to put Timbercrest on top. Unfortunately more drama ensued as the team started to misfire, and the Titans managed an equalizer of their own.
Emotions ran high as time ran short and the perfect season appeared to be over... But the pack would not accept a tie and rallied to score the winning goal in the final minutes of the match! As the clock finally ran out a once divided and frustrated team was reunited by the hard-fought victory and chanted "Irving" over and over to celebrate the game winning goal.
10/25/18 - Leota @ Timbercrest
Result: TMS 4 - LMS 2
After a long season of great success, the boys soccer team was lucky enough to play their final game at home against Leota.
The rain made for an exciting match, though initially the goals were on the wrong end of the pitch. But the Wolves only allowed this for so long, and they quickly reversed the scoreline to come away with a 4-2 win.
This victory was the perfect end to a perfect season in which the team won every single game. Great job Wolves!
