Season Flow
Tryouts
With this sport having team size limits, tryouts are necessary in order to select the most enthusiastic student athletes to represent Timbercrest.
Both 7th and 8th graders will come together to form only one team, so the competition will be fierce. Be sure to bring your A-game and work hard to show the coach why you should be on the team.
Practice
"Practice makes perfect."
Practice for 7th and 8th Grade Girls Soccer will take place every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday until matches begin.
Once matches begin, practices will only occur on Tuesdays and Fridays for the duration of the season.
As with all sports and club activities, there will be no official practice on early release Wednesdays.
Practice begins at about 2:30 pm and will conclude by about 4:05 pm. Please arrange for transportation home.
It is expected that athletes be at all practices unless prior communication takes place. All athletes who have met the eight-practice requirement will be allowed to compete in matches.
Matches
What is a "Match"?
Just like with practice, members of the soccer team are expected to attend matches unless prior communication takes place.
Match Regulations
- Each match consists of two 30 minute halves, with a 5 minute halftime in between.
- A volunteer referee will manage all matches. Please treat them with respect and understand that they are doing the jobs of four people all by themselves.
Transportation
For matches played at Timbercrest students should remain at school for warmups and last minute strategy changes.
Buses will be provided to transport students to games played at other schools. Please be ready to board the buses by 3:15 pm!
At the conclusion of both home and away matches students will need to arrange for transportation home.
Practice Good Sportsmanship
Though it is a competition, it is important to practice good sportsmanship at all matches.
- Refrain from "trash talk".
- Express appreciation toward your competitors whether you are the host or visitor.
- Don't be a sore loser or a sore winner.
- Winning means nothing if you lose off of the field by being disrespectful or disruptive.

The 7/8th grade girls soccer team came out with a fast start this season with a 12-0 victory over Kenmore. Seven different players scored goals with nearly the entire team contributing in assists. The most notable goal is awarded to Lexi S. who had a miraculous header early on. It reminded me of the dolphins at Sea World flying out of the water unexpectedly, punishing the ball into the back of the net as she flew through the air with beauty and finesse. Glorious.

The goal of the match goes to Riley H as she had a quick conversation with the ball mid-air saying, "Are you ready for this? WWE Smackdown begins TONIGHT!" The ball was like, "No! It's tomorrow night." She replied, "HA!" and SMASHED a header into the back of the net. Tune in next week for the next episode of The Ball, The Goal, and Timbercrest Soccer.

The Girls Soccer team came away with another win defeating Canyon Park 3-0. The win last night was their 8th straight win and 6th consecutive shutout. Goals scored by Kameron W., Addi E, and Adie S. The team may argue that the most exciting part about winning districts was being allowed the opportunity to dump an entire cooler of ice water on Mr. Wilcox. The team has collectively scored 52 goals and have only allowed 3 goals so far this season. With only two games left, the girls are pushing for an undefeated season.
5/23/19 - Timbercrest @ Leota
