We had our first webinar with Stu Cabe on Wednesday, October 14th and it was a resounding success!

In the first of three webinars Stu begins by delivering his message about choosing to be kind. He guides viewers through real life stories in order to connect on a more personal level. Part of this message includes his choice to be a butterfly and surround himself with people who have his back, which is something that is all the more relevant in these challenging times.

So, grab a box of tissues and prepare to laugh, cry, and experience a wide range of emotions as you experience this webinar for the first, second, or even the twentieth time!

Note: Stu Cabe does speak about the loss of a pet in this webinar. We just want to let you know in advance of watching, just in case you are not prepared for dealing with the discussion around pet loss.

Timbercrest students have been hard at work on a variety of art projects this summer!

Take a look at how they are making the best of their quarantine time and exploring their creativity:

On June 18th we had a event for our graduating 8th Grade students. All the staff lined up in front of Timbercrest as students and their parents drove by in a parade.

We would like to extend a big thank you for everyone who came out and helped to make this a memorable event for our students and community.

There were lots of wonderful signs and decorations on display. Take a look at a few in the following slideshow and video!

Mrs. Goodrow's art yearbook students have been hard at work completing nature sculptures this spring!

These sculptures were inspired by Andy Goldsworthy, a British Nature Artist. 

Andy Goldsworthy is known for making temporary site-specific works with stones, leaves, sticks, snow, ice, and any other natural materials available to him. Some of his earliest works were rock sculptures at a beach near his art school. He also established the practice of photographing his works once he had completed his art and before the materials and structure (typically arches, cones, stars, spheres, or serpentine lines) succumbed to the elements.

One of the difficult things for advanced art students is that they haven't been able to paint their spring murals on the walls at Timbercrest. Mariel Weidner painted her mural on a board and it will be put up on one of the walls at Timbercrest Middle School. Congrats to Mariel on her beautiful art piece!

Two of our Timbercrest students were winners in the Balfour National Great Shot Photo Contest!

Only four awards are given to photos entered from grades K-8 and Timbercrest claimed half of these:
2nd Place was awarded to Tali Rose Estes for "Foggy Sunrise"
Honorable Mention was awarded to Katie Rittenberg for "Architecture Lines"

Each year the Timbercrest Choir is lucky enough to be invited to the Fairmont Olympic Hotel in downtown Seattle for holiday caroling.

It truly is a magical and memorable experience for these kiddos, as well as a great honor to be able to perform there.  (We are the youngest group to be given the privilege.)

This event took place on Friday, December 13th and the students had a great time! Just look at all their happy faces in this wonderful picture with the holiday tree.

Thanks to tireless efforts from leadership students and advisor/teacher Mrs. Ashley Lovern, WE have made a huge impact here at Timbercrest!

• During early November Timbercrest took part in the WE Scare Hunger food drive. Students and staff collected 2,270 items for the Maltby food bank in order to help those in need.

• Over 460 students made the pledge to be silent on Wednesday, November 20th to raise awareness for basic human rights around the world, such as freedom of speech, access to education, health care, and clean water, as part of the WE Are Silent campaign.

Big thanks to all students, parents, staff, and community members who helped Timbercrest show how much WE care!

Each year our local Lions Club sponsors a special art contest in which students are challenged to create beautiful and impactful peace posters. For 2019 the theme was set as "Journey to Peace."

After a great showing in 2018, Timbercrest students once again entered some amazing pieces for 2019. Everyone did a great job of not only creating artwork, but also making the judging extremely difficult.

While everyone should be proud, here are the three Timbercrest winners:

We are also proud to announce that Sophia Kam's poster has been chosen as the top entry in the district and has been forwarded to the international contest!

Throughout the year the Balfour company opens contests in order to get students excited about yearbooks, and the TMS Yearbook class is always up for the challenge!

This fall they entered a delicious photo of ice cream and smiles that was selected as one of the two winners for the "Marketing Your Theme" category in the contest. 

Timbercrest can also be proud of these honors that accompanied the victory:

• One of only eight winners nationwide
• Only Middle School winner
• Only West Coast winner
   

As spring leads into summer quite a few new murals have appeared on the walls around Timbercrest!

With so many talented artists the only worry is what we will do when we run out of wall space!

Balfour, the company that helps Timbercrest create wonderful yearbooks every year, holds a competition called the "Great Shot Photo Contest."

This time around Timbercrest students took 3 of the 4 Middle School prizes!!!

On Wednesday June 6, 2018, Timbercrest science teacher Mrs. Maureen Juenger got quite the surprise when she was presented with a Molbak's Nature Education grant.

This grant is a collboration between Molbak's of Woodinville and the Northshore Schools Foundation. According to Molbak's it "provides monetary grants to support hands-on nature education programs and projects that result in positive impacts to the environment of a school or community, an increase in appreciation of the positive effects of plants and gardens, and/or an increase in students’ appreciation for healthy foods and nutrition."

Please take the time to congratulate Mrs. Juenger on this wonderful accomplishment when you see her in the halls and the community. 

Our principal, Ms. Hannigan, and several excited Timbercrest 6th graders were present to help Mrs. Juenger receive this award!
